Industrial postdoc fellowship in immunology

Site: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute experiments to characterize existing mouse lines and screen new mouse lines (genotyping, flow cytometry, Western blotting, ELISA, NGS)
  • Design transgenic mice, with a particular focus on cross-species antibody production
  • Provide technical and scientific expertise in discussions and presentations, and for the elaboration of plans as required by the company
  • Clearly communicate results in written reports and oral presentations
  • Take a leading role in manuscript preparation and support the creation of SOPs, as required
  • Interface with and support other scientists as required, actively fostering an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships within and across teams
  • Participate in team meetings to assist in the coordination of project and departmental activities

Essential qualifications

  • Ph.D. in immunology, genetics, cell biology or molecular biology
  • Scientific knowledge of B cell development and antibody production
  • Experience with the design and execution of molecular biology techniques such as PCR and RT-PCR (including primer design), cloning (restriction enzyme/TOPO/Gibson/Golden Gate Assembly), RNA and DNA extraction, Sanger sequencing analysis
  • Experience in protein and cell-based assays including ELISA, Western blotting, and flow cytometry
  • Independent technical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-faced environment while planning and meeting timelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document all work clearly and completely; proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Assets

  • Experience in antibody discovery such as hybridoma generation, antibody library construction/optimization, phage/yeast display, single-cell screening is a plus
  • Experience with NGS data analysis with open-source software (e.g. R) is a plus
  • Experience handling mice is a plus, but not required for this position
